Imagine yourself immersed in a centuries-old Irish lace tradition, guided by one of its foremost stewards — visiting from Ireland for an extraordinary West Coast appearance.
This May, the Lacis Museum of Lace & Textiles is honored to welcome Máire Treanor, internationally respected artist and scholar of Clones Irish Crochet, for a 4-day intensive workshop in Berkeley.

Máire Treanor has devoted over three decades to researching, reviving, and sharing the intricate beauty of Clones Lace—an exquisite branch of Irish Crochet rooted in the borderlands of Monaghan.
Máire's scholarship and passion have led her to teach throughout Ireland, France, and across the United States. She is the author of a definitive book on Clones Lace, published with the Lacis Museum, and has been featured in Piecework Magazine.
This workshop is part of her 2025 North American tour, which includes a stop at the Irish Arts Center in New York City.
It is only here in California, however, that she will lead a full four-day experience, offering an unmatched opportunity to learn, explore, and create.
ABOVE: Máire has been bringing her expertise to bear at LMLT for 15 years! Here she is way back in 2014.
Whether you are newly discovering Irish Crochet or returning to deepen your practice, this workshop offers a special opportunity: a direct connection to history, artistry, and a living tradition.
